Psalm 127:1-5 April 14th 2002 (Ezra born April 12th 2002)

A Song of degrees for Solomon.

Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. [2] It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. [3] Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. [4] As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. [5] Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

God has a way of building houses as only he can. The LORD alone can accomplish godly homes.

*ILL. A great man of God was once asked, "To what do you attribute the success of your home?" –"The grace of God" was the reply.

Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it:

I. WARNING: Let this first of all be a warning to you.

Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it:

Who do you look to to build a godly home?

LOOK TO the LORD!!!

I think I have solved the paradox of why so many great preachers who preach on the home have such wicked children. The people are looking to them for answers instead of the Lord AND FRIENDS GOD WILL NOT HAVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! HE WILL NOT SHARE HIS GLORY WITH ANOTHER!

There are good men out there but when you set yourself up as an expert on these things the people end up looking to you for the answers.

We are to look to the LORD for all things.
