How to use His Words November 19, 2000

Deuteronomy 11:18-20, Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. 19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 20 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:

Lay them up:

- by reading

*ILL. My wife memorizes a lot of Scripture.

Bind them:

The application for us today is two fold: 1) Have the Word of God at your fingertips. Keep it available: carry a N.T. & tracts etc. 2) Let the Word guide what you put your hands to. Work, service, devotions.

Teach them:

Children, friends, family, co-workers. Look for opportunity to teach in soulwinning, in ministry, those you have a hand in discipling.

Speak them:

Forget about this religious time once a week. It has to be 176 hours per week!

One of the best ways to share the Word of God. Make it so a part of you that it comes out in conversation. Speak of answered prayer and God’s standards you have adopted. What God says about politics and education, money and the family. Live it and speak it.

YOU MAY NOT SEE FRUIT NOW OR SALVATION but it will plant the seeds of doubt about their way and plant the seed for the future.

They may laugh at you now but deep down they hope to God it is true, ‘just in case’.

Write them:

On the bumpers of your car. On the doors of your houses.

*ILL. I knew a Sunday school teacher who instructed his students to write out the Bible in long hand.

Doors: in our homes with our families

Gates: places of business.

Your Christianity should be consistent in both places.

John 2:5, His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
