STATEMENT OF FAITH
To set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us that thou mightest know the certainty of those things wherein thou hast been instructed, we send forth the commonly believed confession of faith held among us, as follows:
VIII. OF THE ATONEMENT FOR SIN
IX. OF GRACE IN THE NEW CREATION
X. OF THE FREENESS OF SALVATION
XIV. OF BAPTISM AND THE LORD'S SUPPER
XV. OF THE PERSEVERANCE AND PRESERVATION OF THE SAINTS
XVI. OF THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE WICKED
XVIII. OF THE RESURRECTION, RETURN OF CHRIST AND RELATED EVENTS
XXI. OF THE FAMILY, MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE
We believe that the Holy Bible is (a) verbally and plenary inspired of God; (b) that it has truth without any admixture of error for its matter; that consequently it is infallible and inerrant in all matters of which it speaks; and (c) therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the age, the only complete and final revelation of the will of God to man; the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds and opinions should be tried; and (d) that the Holy Bible is preserved and available to us today.
(EXPLANATORY)
1. By "THE HOLY BIBLE" we mean that collection of sixty-six books, from Genesis to Revelation, which, as originally written, does not only contain and convey the Word of God, but IS the very Word and Words of God. These 66 books total 1,189 chapters. We reject all apocryphal chapters and books not contained in this canon.
2. By "INSPIRATION" we mean that the books of the Bible were written by holy men of God as they were moved by the Holy Spirit, in such a definite way that their writings were supernaturally and verbally inspired and free from error, as no other writings have ever been or ever will be inspired. We believe the King James Bible is the inspired Word of God by reason of its preservation.
3. We believe that the Texts which are faithful to the original autographs of the Bible are the Masoretic Hebrew Text of the Old Testament, and the Textus Receptus Greek Text of the New Testament, and that the King James Bible is a true and faithful translation of these two providentially preserved Texts and is exactly what God would have for us in the English language.

"We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. John 5:45-47. "Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me, for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?"

We believe that there is (a) one, and only one, living and true God, an infinite, intelligent Spirit, the maker and supreme ruler of heaven and earth; (b) inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honor, confidence and love; (c) that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.

IV. OF THE DEVIL, OR SATAN Menu
We believe that Satan was once (a) holy, and enjoyed heavenly honors; but through pride and ambition to be as the Almighty, fell and (b) drew after him a host of angels; that he is now (c) the malignant prince of the power of the air, and the unholy god of this world. (d) We hold him to be man's great tempter, (e) the enemy of God and His Christ, (f) the accuser of the saints, (g) the author of all false religions, the chief power behind the present apostasy; (h) the lord of the antichrist, and (i) the author of all the powers of darkness-destined however (j) to final defeat at the hands of God's Son, and (k) to the judgment of an eternal justice in hell, a place prepared for him and his angels.
(EXPLANATORY)
We do not believe that the name: ‘Morning Star’ is an appropriate name for Lucifer. Many modern versions (ie.The New International Version) have replaced ‘Lucifer’ with a name that can only be connected with our God and Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ("I Jesus...am... the bright and morning star." Revelation 22:16). To call Lucifer the ‘Morning Star’ is blasphemy.
SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:
(a) Isa. 14:12-15. "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit."
Ezek. 28:14-17. "Thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God, and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee."
(b) Rev. 12:9. "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world; he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."

(g) II Cor. 11:13-15. "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. (j) II Thess. 2:8-10. "Then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved."
Rev. 19:11, 16, 20. "I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Rev. 20:1-3. "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. Matt. 25:41. "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels."
We believe in the Genesis account of creation, and (a) that it is to be accepted literally, and not allegorically or figuratively; (b) that man was created directly in God's own image and after His own likeness; (c) that because of the fall of man that image has been marred, and we now bear the image of Adam; (d) that man's creation was not a matter of evolution or evolutionary change of species, or development through interminable periods of time from lower to higher forms; (e) that all animal and vegetable life was made directly, and God's established law was that they should bring forth only "after their kind."; (f) that evolution is contrary to the Word and laws of God; (g) that God’s work of creation was complete on the sixth day;
(EXPLANATORY)
We deny that there is a ‘gap’ between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. We reject theistic evolution as an unscriptural compromise. We believe the earth is about 6000 years old and not millions or billions of years old.

We believe (a) that man was created in innocence under the law of his Maker, but (b) by voluntary transgression fell from his sinless and happy state, (c) in consequence of which, all mankind are now sinners, not by constraint, but of choice; and (d) therefore under just condemnation without defense or excuse.

Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: destruction and misery are in their ways: and the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God."
Eph. 2:1,3. "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of the flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others."

The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him."

We believe (a) that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Ghost in a miraculous manner; (b) born of Mary, a virgin, as no other man was ever born or can ever be born of a woman, and (c) that He is both the Son of God, and God, the Son.

Matt. 1:18-25. "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord hod bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS."

VIII. OF THE ATONEMENT FOR SIN Menu
We believe (a) that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace; (b) through the mediatorial offices of the Son of God, who by the appointment of the Father, freely took upon Him our nature, yet without sin, honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and by His death made a full and vicarious atonement for our sins; (c) that His atonement consisted not in setting us an example by His death as a martyr, but was the voluntary substitution of Himself in the sinner's place, the Just dying for the unjust, Christ, the Lord, bearing our sins in His own body on the tree; (d) that His atonement is not a limited atonement but is available to those sinners who repent and trust Christ for salvation; (e) that, having risen from the dead, He is now enthroned in heaven, and uniting in His wonderful person the tenderest sympathies with divine perfection, He is every way qualified to be a suitable, a compassionate and an all-sufficient Saviour; (f) that, the shed blood of Christ is necessary for salvation and that our great High Priest, the Lord Himself, sprinkled His precious blood on the mercy seat in Heaven as an eternal atonement for sin.

IX. OF GRACE IN THE NEW CREATION Menu
We believe (a) that in order to be saved, sinners must be born again; (b) that the new birth is a new creation in Christ Jesus; (c) that it is instantaneous and not a process; (d) that in the new birth the one dead in trespasses and in sins is made a partaker of the divine nature and receives eternal life, the free gift of God; (e) that the new creation brought about in a manner above our comprehension, not by culture, not by character, nor by the will of man, but wholly and solely by the power of the Holy Spirit in connection with the Word of God, so as to secure our voluntary obedience to the gospel; (f) that its proper evidence appears in the holy fruits of repentance and faith and newness of life.

X. OF THE FREENESS OF SALVATION Menu
We believe (a) in God's electing grace; (b) that the blessings of salvation are made free to all by the Gospel; (c) that it is the immediate duty of all to accept them by repentance and faith; and (d) that nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner on earth but his own inherent depravity and voluntary rejection of the gospel; (e) which rejection involves him in an aggravated condemnation.

We believe that the great gospel blessing which Christ secures to such as believe in Him is Justification; (a) that Justification includes the pardon of sin, and the gift of eternal life on principles of righteousness; (b) that it is bestowed not in consideration of any works of righteousness which we have done; but solely through faith in the Redeemer's blood, His righteousness is imputed unto us.

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin."
Heb. 10:38. "Now the just shall live by faith."
XII. OF REPENTANCE AND FAITH Menu
We believe that Repentance and Faith are (a) solemn obligations, and (b) also inseparable graces, (c) wrought in our souls by the quickening Spirit of God; (d) thereby, being deeply convicted of our guilt, danger and helplessness, and of the way of salvation by Christ, we turn to God with unfeigned contrition, confession and supplication for mercy; (e) at the same time heartily receiving the Lord Jesus Christ and openly confessing Him as our only and all-sufficient Saviour.

We believe that a church of Christ is a congregation of baptized believers (a) associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the gospel; (b) observing the ordinances of Christ; (c) governed by His laws; and (d) exercising the gifts, rights and privileges invested in them by His Word; (e) that its officers of ordination are pastors or elders, whose qualifications, claims and duties are clearly defined in the Scriptures; (f) we believe the true mission of the church is found in the Great Commission: First, to make individual disciples; Second, to build up the church by baptizing converts into membership; Third, to teach and instruct, as He has commanded. We do not believe in the reversal of this order; (g) we hold that the local church has the absolute right of self government, free from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations; and that the one and only superintendent is Christ, through the Holy Spirit; (h) that it is scriptural for true churches to cooperate with each other in contending for the faith and for the furtherance of the gospel; and that the Scriptures are the sole and only judge of the measure and method of church cooperation; (i) that on all matters of membership, of polity, of government, of discipline, of benevolence, the will of the local church as guided by the Scriptures is final, and;(j) that the New Testament church is a local, not universal, institution and is the only organization the Lord gave the authority to carry out the ‘great commission’.

We believe that Christian baptism is (a) the immersion in water of a believer; (b) in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, with the authority of the local church; (c) to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem our faith in the crucified, buried and risen Saviour, with its effect in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; (d) that it does not wash away sin or play any part in the sinner’s salvation but is an obedient response to the Scriptures; (e) that it is the means by which a child of God is brought into fellowship in a local church and the privileges of a church relation and the Lord's supper; (f) in which the members of the church, by the sacred use of bread and the fruit of the vine are to commemorate together the dying love of Christ; (g) preceded always by solemn self-examination; and (h) that we are sure that Christ used the fruit of the vine or new wine, not fermented, intoxicating wine when He instituted the Lord’s Supper.(i) and that the ordinance was given to churches and in order to guard the supper from those not in harmony with the Lord, we hold to a closed communion.

XV. OF THE PERSEVERANCE AND PRESERVATION OF THE SAINTS Menu
We believe (a) that such only are real believers as have been born again by the Spirit of God; (b) that their persevering attachment to Christ is the grand mark which distinguishes them from superficial professors; (c) that it is possible for the saint to be backslidden, but this condition will always result in the chastening and correcting hand of our heavenly Father; (d) that a special Providence watches over their welfare; and (e) that salvation can never be lost and the saints of God are kept by the power of God through faith unto eternal salvation.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
XVI. OF THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE WICKED Menu
We believe that (a) there is a radical and essential difference between the righteous and the wicked; (b) that such only as through faith are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and sanctified by the Spirit of our God, are truly righteous in His esteem; (c) while all such as continue in impenitence and unbelief are in His sight wicked, and under the curse; (d) and this distinction holds among men both in and after death, in the everlasting felicity of the saved, in a place called Heaven and the everlasting conscious suffering of the lost, in a place called the lake of fire.

XVII. OF CIVIL GOVERNMENT Menu
We believe that civil government is (a) of divine appointment, for the interests and good order of human society; (b) that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed; (c) except only in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ as revealed in His Word; (d) who is the only Lord of the conscience, and the coming Prince of the kings of the earth.

XVIII. OF THE RESURRECTION, RETURN OF CHRIST AND RELATED EVENTS
We believe in and accept the sacred Scriptures upon these subjects at their face and full value. of the Resurrection, (a) we believe that Christ rose bodily "the third day according to the Scriptures;" (b) that He ascended "to the right hand of the throne of God;" (c) that He alone is our "merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God;" (d) "that this same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven" -bodily, personally and visibly; (e) that the "dead in Christ shall rise first;" (f) that the living saints "shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump;" (g) "that the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His Father David;" (h) and that "Christ shall reign a thousand years in righteousness until He hath put all enemies under His feet."

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years."
Rev. 20:6. "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection; on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years."
We believe (a) that the command to give the gospel to the world is clear and unmistakable and this Commission was given to the churches; we do not accept mission boards or any other ecclesiastical bodies, associations, or fellowships as Scriptural organizations for doing the Lord’s work; the local church is God’s organization for getting His work done here on earth; further, (b) other methods for doing church work may produce results but do not enjoy the blessings of eternal reward; (c) it is churches doing God’s will and work God’s way that bring Christ honour and glory.

XX. OF THE GRACE OF GIVING Menu
We believe (a) that scriptural giving is one of the fundamentals of the Faith; (b) that we are commanded to bring our gifts into the storehouse (common treasury of the church) upon the first day of the week, as the Lord has prospered us, (c) that under grace we give as the Lord has commanded us concerning tithes and offerings(d) that we are commanded to bring our tithes and offerings into the common treasury of the church; (e) that giving is a foundational doctrine and that tithing is only a part of what the Scriptures teach on this subject.
(EXPLANATORY)
Tithing is taught as a scriptural practice before (Gen.14:20b), and after (Matt.23:23) the Law was given to Moses. To say tithing is legalism is false. In fact the practice of the early churches was the concept of ‘grace giving’ as practiced throughout the book of Acts and as discussed in II Cor.8,9,10,& 11.

We believe (a) the family was ordained of God; (b) that marriage is a life-long, exclusive covenant between one man and one woman; (c) that human sexuality is a good gift from God to be enjoyed only in the bonds of marriage; (d) that sexual activity outside of scriptural marriage is an abomination and sin; (e) that homosexuality, lesbianism, incest, bestiality, adultery and premarital sexual relations do not constitute marriage nor can ever be pleasing to God; (f) that divorce is not taught except for fornication (unscriptural marriage arrangements-ie; incest) or abandonment (where the offending individual leaves the marriage or sues for divorce); (g) and, that because of the teaching of the scriptures a divorced person can never marry(which would be to commit adultery), be a pastor or a deacon.
(EXPLANATORY)
The word fornication as used in the Bible has a broader meaning than is commonly meant today. The word fornication as used by Jesus in Matt.19:9 has reference to the unlawful unions listed in Lev.17. The unscriptural marriage of I Cor. 5:1-5 is an example in the New Testament of a situation that had to be stopped by a divorce or a 'putting away'. There is also historical evidence that in the Jewish economy there was a betrothal period (usually one year) which could be broken if one of the spouses committed fornication before the marriage was consummated.
Remarriage is only permitted when the spouse dies and then "only in the Lord." I Cor. 7:39c.
